Dr Andrew Asherson is Durban born and bred. He matriculated from Hilton College and completed his undergraduate medical degree at Stellenbosch university in 1988. After his internship and community service in the Cape, he moved to London, where he passed the MRCP (Member of the Royal College of Physicians) examinations in 2004.
Dr Asherson completed his cardiology specialist training in 2012, working in and around London including at St Mary's Hospital, Harefield Heart Hospital and St George's Hospital. He registered as a specialist physician and cardiologist by both the Health Professions Council of SA, and the General Medical Council (UK). He manages most aspects of adult cardiology (also including physically adult children over the age of 12 years) with a particular interest in trans-radial coronary aniography and intervention.
Dr Asherson was awarded Fellowship of the European Society of Cardiology in December 2018.
