Busamed Gateway Private Hospital supports the North Coast Courier Orphan Fund

The staff of Busamed Gateway Private Hospital are known for their compassion and care for their patients and today, in support of Mandela Day, they showed their commitment to the community of North Durban as well. “As we are a busy, 24 hour, essential services hospital, it is always a challenge for our staff to be involved in an offsite project. This is why we were delighted to be able to support the Orphan Fund and give everyone a chance to give their 67 minutes back on Mandela Day,” said Amanda van Rensburg, Nursing Manager of the hospital.

Staff were challenged to spend 67 minutes baking, selling or buying to the value of R67 from a bake sale that was held in the reception of the hospital. The response to the challenge can only be described as phenomenal with more than R2,000 raised in half an hour. While the staff showed off their baking skills, doctors, their staff, Hospital staff and even some visitors took advantage of the chance to enjoy the freshly baked delights and take some action on Mandela Day. To top off the day, Hospital Manager, Chris Mbhele, announced that the hospital would match the amount raised by the staff and R5,000 was deposited into the Orphan Fund.
